The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just issued a “black box” warning for anemia drugs prescribed for cancer and kidney failure patients. The three common known drugs are Procrit, Epogen (Epoetin afla) and Aranesp (Darbepoetin). Patients are given Procrit and Epogen help increase the production of hemoglobin. However, analysts believe these drugs are prescribed to create revenue for kidney centers. As of today, there are over 1 million Americans taking these drugs.
